What is calibration?
Equipment calibration is one of the primary processes used to maintain either an instrument or piece of equipment’s accuracy. It is the method of comparing a reading on one piece of equipment or system to another that has been referenced to a known set of parameters. What is mechanical calibration?
Mechanical calibration measure several different factors, including length, force, mass, torque, vibration, dimension, pressure, and viscosity of your equipment. At SPR, we test the mechanical calibration of your industrial equipment in a temperature-controlled environment to maintain the thermal stability of both the instruments being tested and the reference standards.
What is a calibration certificate?
Once a calibration has been completed, you will receive a certificate from SPR indicating the precise results, including the calibration number, measurement data, measurement uncertainties, and signatures that will be noted by the SPR staff that performed the tests. These calibrations are critical, so you must keep the certificate on hand whenever using the piece of equipment.
Why is calibration important?
Calibration defines the accuracy and quality of measurements recorded using a piece of equipment. Usually, over time, there's a tendency for results and accuracy to vary or 'drift' when using particular technologies or measuring particular parameters. There's a need to maintain the calibration of equipment throughout its lifetime to be confident that you're measuring accurate, reliable, and repeatable results. Calibration quantifies and controls errors within measurement processes to an acceptable level.
